Areas of Expertise and Responsibilities:

Dr Fanny Langschwager is responsible for fuel and lubricating oil analysis in the fuels laboratory. She has gained the following experience through her work in our department:

  • Determination of polar components in diesel fuels
  • Characterisation and evaluation of fuels and lubricating oils of biogenic and mineral origin
  • Analytical method development for the characterisation of fuels and lubricating oils
  • Knowledge of standards and specifications in the field of fuel quality
Projects

Projects

  • Investigation and evaluation of the content of polar species in diesel fuels with regard to their tendency to form deposits (polar components)
  • Fuel characterisation and evaluation of "decarbonised" drop-in fuels for the operation of ocean-going vessels using biogenic residues (project: PyroMar)
  • Fuel characterisation and evaluation of marine fuels and blend components for the development of a flexible integrated biofuel process (project: Flexi Green Fuels)
  • Refinery integration, scale-up and certification for aviation and marine biofuels production (Project: REFOLUTION)
