Use of biodiesel (B100) in agricultural machinery with EURO 4/5 emission standards

Background:

The objective of this project is to gain basic knowledge about a state-of-the-art off-road engine equipped with comprehensive exhaust aftertreatment (DOC, P-filter, SCR) and developed for use with diesel fuel, in order to verify whether long-term stable operation with biodiesel is possible.
In particular, the project aims to evaluate the influence of biodiesel on the exhaust aftertreatment system of the EURO 4 tractor engine. The project involves extensive exhaust gas measurements, including of non-limited exhaust gas components (e.g. NH3, NO2, N2O). Furthermore, the influence of biodiesel on the particle size distribution at various operating points will be investigated. With the requested equipment, the research work can be expanded to include the key points of particle number and size distribution.
